Karl commenced as a pastoral assistant (part-time) in February 2010 after completing theological and counselling studies (MAR) at Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, and additional training in biblical counselling at CCEF (Christian Counseling and Education Foundation) in Philadelphia.

Karl's main role as assistant to Mark Smith is in preaching and teaching, with some time for personal pastoral care.  He has been an elder at Drouin since 2004 and was accepted as a candidate for the ordained ministry in 2010.

Karl is also a medical practitioner and, having been a partner in a rural general practice until 2004, now continues with counselling and some part-time work in anaesthesia.

Karl's longstanding passion is that Jesus Christ - through His Word, His Spirit, and His body the church - would be as central to all personal ministry, helping relationships, and counselling, as He is to the public preaching of the Word.

Karl and Louise have been married for over 20 years and they have four children aged from 7 to 14 years.
